Eastern Savings Bank has established a temporary deferral program for borrowers impacted by the federal government shutdown. To qualify for the temporary deferral program, you must complete the Federal Government Shutdown Assistance Application linked below. For additional information or for instructions on submitting your application, please contact your asset manager or call Eastern Savings Bank’s customer hotline at 410-568-6076. The following criteria apply:
Qualification Criteria
- You must be a U.S. government employee working no fewer than 20 hours per week;
- You must certify that you are experiencing a financial hardship;
- Your loan must be secured by your primary residence;
- You must be 45 days or fewer past due on your mortgage;
- You must not currently be in an active bankruptcy case; and
- You must not have a current miscellaneous balance from previously deferred payments of more than $20,000.
If you submit an application for the temporary deferral program and are approved, the following terms will apply:
Terms
- You may temporarily defer one mortgage payment that is to be repaid by March 31, 2026.
- The deferral only applies to October or November 2025 payments.
